Stephen Dorrell
Former Health Secretary and Commons Health Committee Chairman, and Chair at Dorson GroupStephen Dorrell was a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1979 to 2015.
He was a member of the government from 1983 and served in the Cabinet, first as Secretary of State for the National Heritage and later as Secretary of State for Health.
After a spell in the Shadow Cabinet responsible for Education Stephen left the font bench to develop his business interests.
Between 2010 and 2014 Stephen was Chair of the House of Commons Health Select Committee.
After leaving Parliament Stephen served as Chair of the NHS Confederation from 2015 to 2019.
Following the Brexit Referendum in 2016 Stephen became Chair of European Movement, and a co-founder of the People’s Vote Campaign.
In 2019 he left the Conservative Party and stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate in the December 2019 General Election.
Stephen has developed an active business life working with several leading companies, in particular in the health sector.
Born in 1952, he was educated at Uppingham School, and Brasenose College, Oxford. He is married with one daughter and three sons.

- Neither the NHS nor local government can properly discharge their responsibility without close integration.
